"Adoption- It's About...All I Think About"

I have been thinking about adoption a lot lately. I have come a long way in the past few years, from when I was too embarrassed to talk about our struggles to now telling anyone that will listen about our desire to adopt (even ladies at work- that is a HUGE step for me!).

We sent out an email to our family and friends tonight, asking for your help in "spreading the word". It sill seems a little strange to me, asking others to campaign for us, but I have been feeling a real urgency to be more proactive in our adoption hopes. I have heard wonderful stories about birthmoms and adoptive parents finding each other through family and friends. Isaac's cousin was blessed with their darling daughter because a friend shared their story and just today I read about Mrs. R's newest addition (congratulations!!).

And so, we also ask our blogging friends to share our story and information with anyone you may know who is looking to place her child in a loving home. You can share with her our adoption blog (link on side) and she can contact either us or our caseworker.

We are also in the process of making pass-along cards. Pass-along cards are the size of business cards and contain information to find out more information about us (plus a super-cute picture of us thanks to super-talented Danica!). Pass-along cards are an easy way to share our story and desire to adopt. Some ways you can share the cards include:

  • Slip one in any letter or bill that you send out.
  • Put one in your holiday cards.
  • Leave a card with your bill at restaurants.
  • If you see a "business card" drop box, drop one in.
  • Give a pass along card to your doctor or dentist. They come in to contact with a lot of people, and are a wonderful referral source.

Fellow bloggers, if you would be willing to share some pass-along cards, please email me-- isaacsara1{at}gmail{dot}com --your address and I will send some to you as soon as they are printed.

Thanks for all of your love and support- it really does mean the world to us!

Sara, I love what you said, you guys are wonderful. You will make such a wonderful mom. The time will come I'm sure of it. Sometimes I go blog surfing and this is a blog I sometimes look at. She has a lot of things on adoption and a lot of friends that are going through the same thing. I thought you might want to take a peek. http://www.adoptablelove.blogspot.com/

I wish you guys the best!

Hey guys-
We would love to help. Send some of those cards our way. I'm pretty sure you have our address. I don't know if you have our e-mail. When you have said you have sent things to your friends and family we haven't gotten anything. Here is our e-mail -

Hi Sara,

You don't know me and I don't know you. I came across your blog by searching for LDS fertility blogs and came across yours. I love your blog, your experience is almost identical to mine. We have been married for almost 6 years and so far, have not been blessed with a child. After trying many different avenues, we are now getting ready to do the IVF procedure next month. I'm a bit nervous and excited at the same time. Anyways, I just want to wish you lots of luck and hope adoption works out for you & Isaac. May God bless you and your sweet little family. Love your dog too! BTW, I hope it's okay for a stranger like me to check in every once in a while. :o)

Take care,

Hey, you don't know me, but I read your post because Genevieve Curtis (who is my cousin by marriage) wrote about it on her blog. I just wanted to leave you a comment because my husband and I found out that we couldn't have children right after we got married in 2003
and it is the hardest thing that I have ever gone through. We actually adopted our son Zachary 2 years ago through an adoption agency in California. It was the most amazing and emotional experience I have ever gone through. We are now hoping to adopt a second child in the next year or so. So I just wanted to wish you and your husband good luck, I know it will be great for you guys.

Hey Sara and Isaac,
I have been thinking about you guys lots lately. I got on and looked at your adoption profile, and lots of others on the LDS Family Services site, and I just want to say honestly and truly, I would pick you two over any of those others! You are truly an amazing couple, and very deserving of being mommy and daddy. I would love to help any way I can!!! Send some cards my way. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Hi Isaac and Sara,

My husband and I are a friend of Jay and Sheena's. We have a 3 1/2 month old we adopted through LDSFS. I think we probably have the same caseworker. I know how hard this can all be and we'd love to talk if you'd be up for it. Just keep telling yourself "surely tomorrow." Because "tomorrow" will come and it will be a day you'll NEVER forget. :) It's hard right now but you'll soon be able to look back and see why Heavenly Father needed you to be patient just a little while longer. It's such a gift to be able to go through this process. The mother's who put themselves through all this pain and heartache are the ones who are meant to be mothers the most of all. :)
