Living 2,144 miles from the majority of our family, we miss out on a lot of family things, including Sunday dinners. Our friend Chelsea came up with the idea last year that we should get a group together and have Sunday
BBQs. Everyone brings their own meat and a side to share- whoever is the host that week provides the plates, cups, drinks, and grill. Not only do I not have to worry about cooking a Sunday dinner the
entire summer, but we get to spend time with our amazing "family".
Last week it was our turn to host. If you remember this picture from last year,

you will recall that our grill was a little small, and went to grill heaven shortly after this BBQ. Guess all that meat was just too much for it to handle.
Saturday night, we decided that in order to host a BBQ, we probably should have a grill. We left our house at 9:30pm and arrived at Home Depot around 9:45. We picked up a grill-in-a-box and went home to assemble. Around 2am we had our first full sized, fully assembled grill!

Good thing too, or we would have never been allowed to host a BBQ again.

I made
this (no cilantro, half the soy sauce) and
this, and Isaac made
these. (We
were on a diet in our house until these hit the scene. He has made three batches of them in the past two weeks.)

We are excited to be able to work on our yard next summer (since I am SO DONE working on the house). We planted a tomato plant and a few flowers on the front porch just to tide us over until next year.

That's all. Oh, and I took a nap when I got home from work today, and when I woke up Isaac had dinner waiting. Lucky me!

Mmmm....brownies. I shouldn't look at recipes so late at night. :) I'm going to make these this Sunday. I'll let you know how they turn out. Or, maybe I'll take a "before" and "after" picture. If I look bigger in the second picture, you'll know they were good.
Yay for new grills, yay for naps, and yay for not cooking!

THAT GRILL! No! That is the very one that causes me nightmares at least 3 times a week. Go ahead and ask Jenny Frame to fill you in. I am still to scarred to discuss it.
I'm glad that you've made some good friends out there. How fun to do a Sunday BBQ night, you'll have to break out the barbies on one occasion ( There's nothing like BBQ and barbies)
What a great idea! I like having people over as long as they reciprocate the favor, jk, it is nice to collaborate and get a great meal. I want to try the banner thing, it looks so cute! You are definitely one of those creative people.
I am so trying those brownies! MMM. That would be so hard to not to have family, but you guys seem to be making out alright :) You two are so very cool. Miss you!
So sorry to have missed this fun affair! :(
