happiest birthday week

The Friday before my birthday, as I was getting ready for the work, I was thinking about what Isaac had planned for my birthday week finale. We've been under a bit of stress over here (school, work, basement, birthmoms, same ol') and I was thinking that I would love nothing more than a weekend in the country. My guess was that Isaac would surprise me with a trip to the shore, so I was gearing myself up to be excited for that. But a weekend in the country... that would be perfect!

Isaac made me get off work at 3:30, and he picked me up outside my office. When we started heading west of the city, I thought that maybe my birthday wish had come true. We kept driving and driving... and indeed- Isaac surprised me with a weekend in Lancaster! He booked a room at the most beautiful bed and breakfast, had packed our bags, and arranged to have the dog taken care of for the weekend. When we got to our room, there was a big bouquet of flowers, and box of chocolates, and a bottle of sparkling cider- Isaac had arranged for all of it! Seriously people, he's amazing.

where's Isaac?

We went to an authentic Amish buffet restaurant on Friday night- the food was good, but the desserts were amazing! Saturday we spent the day driving on the back roads and buying jams, breads, and treats from Amish stands along the route. The best stop of the day was going to an Amish farm where we looked at quilts an Amish woman was making, and bought sausage and cheese from her home. At first I thought we weren't supposed to go inside because all the lights were off- then I realized, duh, they are Amish. We must buy an Amish quilt before we move away- they are so beautiful. Of course, we went to Kitchen Kettle Village for a few minutes, and hit the outlet malls for a good hour, but it was so wonderful and relaxing to be on the back roads and away from the crowds. We saw a group of Amish kids riding around in this little horse and buggy, they were adorable.

This was the best birthday week yet. Love you babe, thanks for making my birthday HAPPY!

What a sweet b-day gift! You forgot the most important gift for your birthday: Jim finally asked Pam to marry him. ;^)

Oh I loved going out of the city and into Lancaster. I just go to Salem or Payson to get out of the big city of Spanish Fork. :) Glad the B-Day week was a blast and even happier The Office is back ("You do not talk to him like that, he is metally challenged!")
