hazel's rainbow party

For weeks (and weeks and weeks) Hazel has been so excited for her rainbow party. Finally the day arrived! My good friend Margo came over in the morning to help me set up, and I really couldn't have done it without her. Hazel hunkered down in the corner and played games and watched shows on the iPod while we got everything ready. She was so totally oblivious to everything that was going on around her, and when we turned the iPod off, she instantly realized all the decorating that had gone on while she was zoned out. It was pretty funny, and she was SO thrilled!

For treats we had rainbow cupcakes, rainbow jello, rainbow fruit kabobs, rainbow sprinkled donuts and m&ms.

When Hazel's friends arrived, we had different stations set up- they could make rainbow pasta necklaces, have their fingernails painted in rainbow colors, color a rainbow picture, or play outside with rainbow chalk.

everyone sported their 'hazel face stickers'. it wouldn't be a party without them!

hazel's favorite treat was the jello
one of my YW- hazel adores her!

We then had a rainbow beanbag toss (Margo made it, so cute!) and ate the rainbow cupcakes, followed by opening presents!

Then the finale of the day- the pinata! I made the pinata using a few pieces of cardboard and paper, and thought I made it really flimsy so it would be easy to break open. I clearly don't know my own talent, and it took a long time, but finally smarties and suckers rained down on the kids.

The party favors were rainbow water colors and a little rainbow notebook, and all the girls took home a rainbow ribbon wand.

We were so happy that Arlianne and Guy were able to come to the party. It was wonderful to share this day with them. As they were getting ready to leave, Arlianne told us some big news- that morning while in San Fran, they got engaged!!

I cannot believe my baby girl is three. Happy Birthday Hazel Ann, you are so loved!
