Harvest Day

Yesterday was the day of the great harvest and we had to be at the doctors at 7am. They got me all prepped for surgery, gave us discharge instructions, we met with the nurse, the anesthesiologist, and the doctor, and then... I can't remember a thing. I thought I was going to be mildly sedated, but I was out cold. The next thing I knew, I was sitting upright in a chair and Isaac was talking to me.

Before going in to have my eggs retrieved, the doctor told us that he was expecting to get between 8-14. He said that he would write how many he actually got on my hand so that I could see it when I woke up. He also said that based on how many explanation marks he wrote, I could tell how excited he was. I thought he was kidding, but when I woke up, Isaac told me to look at my hand:

24 eggs!!! Apparently the doctor had grossly underestimated me, and was very excited about it! After the retrieval I went home and relaxed. I was in a bit of pain, and incredibly tired. Today I am still in some pain, and am still exhausted (it's been a bit stressful!) so I worked from home. I love that my work allows me to do that, it is wonderful!

I just got a call from the nurse and of my 24 eggs, 18 fertilized, 4 did not, and 2 fertilized and then died (or some more medically appropriate term). Since we really don't need 18 embryos, they froze 11 of them and will call me tomorrow to let me know how my 7 little ones are doing. We hope they keep growing! We are so proud. :) Saturday they will put the embryos back in me, and then I will be on 24 hours of bedrest. Wish us luck!!

Our friends and ward continue to be wonderful. Genevieve brought us over some super yummy bread yesterday and Julie provided yet another great meal! The RS is going to bring us dinner tonight and Saturday as well- we are so blessed! Poor Isaac hasn't slept a wink as he is trying to finish up his qualifying exam, and he is so grateful for the food so he doesn't have to cook for me!
