Isaac and I have been debating about whether or not to put stuff up on our blog about our IVF treatment. We just don't know if this is of interest to our family and friends! But, we're throwing caution to the wind and telling everyone in the blogsphere- we are doing IVF this month! I am on day five of my Lupron shots (once a day in the thigh) and start the Gonal-F (twice a day in the stomach) next week.
We are very lucky that my insurance will cover one round of IVF because the procedure costs $20,000 (not including the $5,000 for the meds!). We have also had another blessing fall into our lap as we contemplated doing this procedure. We found out that my insurance would cover a portion of the meds that I need, leaving us with about a $1,000 bill. We figured that we could afford this, and were about to have our doctor call in the prescriptions and get things rolling. This same day, a professor from Isaac's department called him into her office. She proceeded to explain to Isaac that she was about to start IVF when she found out she was pregnant. The cool part- she wanted to give us all of her medication. I called my nurse (who also happened to be her nurse) and got the okay to use her unused meds. She was missing one medication that I needed, so I had to get that one of my own. Instead of spending a thousand dollars on the meds, it cost us $14. Wow.
So far things have been going okay, but the heavy duty shots start soon and I am pretty nervous. My body tends to react to things differently than hoped, so please pray for us! I am officially using my blog to solicit prayers- I hope that's kosher. Living so far away, and not wanting to call each of our friends and family members and bore them with our fertility issues, I figured this was a good way to do it. We could use all the prayers we can get.

Mat says he loves you...and thank you very much for the letter you sent to him. He will write you soon!
As for me...I am thrilled that you are sharing the news. I don't like to ask...because I just don't want to hurt any feelings. I think it is a great thing to ask for prayers at this time. I have been praying for you anyway! You guys will be the best parents! Know that you are in our prayers! Thanks for sharing the great news!
We love and miss you guys very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heck yeah, already praying for you. So it counts double if it was before you asked. Ahhh! It's all so exciting and nerve-racking! I hope the heavy duty shots go okay. Have you been getting your blood taken every day? What day do they do the actual harvesting?
I'm so glad your nurse is letting you use those meds! Definitely a blessing! I hope everything goes well for you, I know you are nervous about the shots. I'll send prayers your way!
You can definitely add us to the list of those praying for you! I sure wish you were closer, but if you were you wouldn't be getting all those blessings. We so want you to be parents! You will be fantastic!!!! Let us know when this will happen and we can fast for you that day. We love you and miss you so much!

Hey...maybe this is jumping the gun a little bit...but my neighbor's sister had a garage sale today and she was selling a $500 cherry wood sleigh bed for $50! It is brand new in the box. The mattress is $30 and she paid $100 for it. Also brand new. If you are interested...let me know. She didn't sell it! This is a crazy great deal!
Talk soon!
I tried to call you with the phone # that Mat has for you...but it sounded like a fax machine...???...So I don't think we have a good number for you guys.
