Oh, how lovely was the morning...

On Saturday we went to Palmyra, NY. It was amazing to be in that actual area where Joseph Smith lived, where he walked, prayed, and saw God. The spirit there was beautiful.

This is a recretation of the Smith log home; it is on the foundations of the original home. This is where Joseph lived when he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ (I could imagine him leaning up against the fireplace as he told his mother what he just saw) and where the Angel Moroni appeared to him.

After the log home, we walked down the street to the frame home where the Smith family moved in 1825. This is the actual home, and it was under these bricks that Joseph hid the golden plates at one time. Right there!

Mike, Kendra, and Kenney inside the frame home.

After the tour, we were on our own to walk through the Sacred Grove. It was amazing to be there, the place I had heard about for as long as I can remember.

Next it was off to the place where the Book of Mormon was published.

This is the original floor where Joseph Smith walked. It was neat to imagine him walking up to the counter and asking Egbert B. Grandin to print the Book of Mormon.

This is the room where the Book of Mormon was published. The senior missionaries told us some amazing stories, and it was great to be in the actual room where the handwritten manuscript would have been poured over as it was being put into print. What an exciting time for the early Saints!

Just surfing through some blogs and came across your's. I'm dying to go to Palmyra. We live in CT, so we aren't too far, but haven't had the chance yet. Your pictures are great though!
