A gala and a stove

Isaac's brother James was in town again, so we took him to the gala with us. Not sure how much fun he had, but was a good sport even when we got lost downtown and I lost my temper after driving around forever. Isaac and I genuinely love each other and get along really, really well.... except for when we are lost. We don't handle that frustration very well. This Christmas we made the best decision for our marriage- we bought a GPS. We are now able to enjoy our time together in the car, we don't loose our tempers, and we can go anywhere we want! However, when you have the wrong address for the gala, the GPS won't help out very much, and poor James witnessed a "we're lost and late argument". Once we finally got the gala, we had a nice time and it was great to see some of my graduating students.

(I love Shirley Temples! The bartender always looks at me strangly when I order them, but who can pass up Sprite and cherry juice?)

This guy is pretty amazing. He is the second blind student to attend Wharton, and was the MBA co-chair of my committee.

Speaking of my committee, they surprised me last week with a $110 gift card here, yummm! I was having a really busy and hard week at work and feeling pretty unappreciated, so their timing couldn't have been more perfect. My students are the best!!

And now on to our stove.

This is how we've cooked for the past... almost two years (wow, times flies!).

This is how we've cooked for the past few weeks...

And this is how we'll cook for next few years! Isaac hooked up the power yesterday, so we had our maiden voyage and cooked chicken enchiladas. I've never cooked in a brand new stove before, and I must admit that it is quite lovely. So clean and shiny and fresh. Maybe we should have taken Isaac's mom's advice sooner- she was right, I love my new stove!

You need a GPS in Philadelphia! The roads are laid out like a bowl of spagetti. We have a GPS, but sometimes it leads us to the wrong place - seriously.

It's good to know that we are not the only ones who crack under pressure when it comes to being lost. Not my best moments! Congrats on the stove, its a beauty. I think it would make cooking dinner so much more fun knowing that you are the only one who had used it. ALso, I checked out your adoption blog and love it! You two are too cute. I really hope this happens quick for you. I'm going to add your link to my page.

BEAN BRAIN--
so tell me this camera girl...why are you not taking pictures of the progress your boyfriend is making in the basement? do you think i care about galalas or dresses? if you are still wondering, the answer is no. i want wires and sheet rock and wood and maybe throw in an electrical fire or a small explosion of some kind for effect. i'm just saying. nothing to maim or kill...just something with some panache. it is so weird seeing you get older. mat yorbro.

also; that other nickname that i called you during our growing up years clear up until...now. it turns out it is a derogatory term; something of which i was unaware back then. i started writing it at the beginning of this and after i wrote it i thought hmmmm, that just doesn't sound as innocent as it used to. so i wrote bean brain instead.
