A Manly Blog About the Basement

This update is for my brother who complained about the girly blogs about galas and dresses. So here's some dust and construction and wiring for you!

Isaac winding up to knock out the balusters.

We had only three stairs for a few weeks. It made doing laundry a climbing adventure.

The stairs are back in and a bit of sheetrock is up, but I haven't taken any pictures in awhile.

Isaac worked really hard to get the electrical work perfect, with a little help from our amazing friend Juan. The electrical inspector came a few weeks ago to do the rough inspection, and we were both keeping our fingers crossed that we would pass. When we were doing our kitchen, the inspector gave us a really hard time about everything and made us (the proverbial "us", of course) redo a few things.

As soon as the inspector stepped out of his truck, he asked Isaac if we have a bathroom in the basement. Thinking that it was part of the inspection, Isaac said that we were thinking about putting one in, but decided not to. The inspector then walked into the basement, and before his eyes could even adjust to the dark, he asked where we wanted the sticker. He didn't look at anything.

And then... he asked Isaac if he could pee behind his truck, in our ivy. Isaac, a bit stunned at this entire charade, said "I guess".

He peed in our ivy.

So Mat, is that a manly enough story for you?

Ha ha ha!! I can't believe he peed in your ivy. Now why couldn't he just use the bathroom?

I don't envy you guys at all. I think I've spent a good 25% of my married life (that's over 2.5 YEARS) living with some crazy construction project like that. We have many stories about construction nightmares. But none about the inspector peeing in the yard. That's definitely a good one. We have more stories about all the times we did projects without permits....many, many times. In general, it works for us. But we've had the inspector knock on our front door before because we were obviously in the middle of something. Now that wasn't too pretty.
