happy birthday, ker-bear

Today is my favorite sister's birthday. She gets a blog post because, unlike four brothers and a bazillion -in-law siblings, I only have one sister. Let me tell you a little bit about my dearest Keri:

1. She speaks so quietly I can hardly hear her.
2. She is super artistic and creative.
3. I was so jealous of her when I was little. I always thought that my parents loved her best (they do), and she had such a cool and interesting life. I remember one time my mom came home with a bunch of canning lids with “kerr” stamped into the top. I started crying (typical youngest child behavior) because, to my little girl eyes, I thought it said “keri”. Why did she get her own canning lids and I didn’t? I remember feeling like an idiot when my mom told me what it really said, but I still think of Keri every time I see one of those lids.
4. She had the coolest collection of records, like “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and a song that had something to do with molasses. Sometimes, she would even let me listen to them :)
5. Whenever we were playing and I started to misbehave, she would always say to me, in her quiet voice, “Sara, you better shape up or ship out”.
6. Keri refused to wear makeup for years. My mom sold Mary Kay, and loves makeup, so this was apparently Keri's way of rebelling. She also didn't get her ears peireced until college.
6. When I was growing up, I thought my sister was the coolest thing around. Now, I think that even more. She is the greatest mom, the nicest friend, and always cries on the phone with me. I hate that I live so far away from her, but I love that she wants me to live closer. And she hasn’t told me to “ship out” for years.

ker hates this picture because she is crying. i like it because she is sad that i am leaving, which = that she looooves me!

Happy Birthday to the Sister of all Sisters!

Thank you for the wonderful idea of doing a blog for Keri! Dad told me to read your blog, but to have a Kleenex handy--which I did need! You 2 girls are so wonderful--there aren't words to express how much Dad and I love you both. Guess what--you're BOTH our favorite! Happy Birthday to one daughter, and Happy Day to the other daughter! Love, Mom

Two fine girls who love each other . . . well, friends, it doesn't get much better than that. I wouldn't mind if they both moved next door to me and baked me cookies and pies . . . then I could decide on a daily basis which one was my favorite daughter. Anyway, Happy Birthday to the both of you.
Love, Dad.

Sara what a sweet sister you are. I usually don't even remember my sisters birthday, well I remember it but I forget to tell her that I remember it.
The picture with you both wearing glasses shows just how alike you look too!

So I have photoshop 7.0. Will that work to make the cute templates? I could always go download a trial of elements if not. I should just buy a different version anyway. I don't like 7.0.
And you're a sweet sister.

So cute! My sister still tells me to ship out (or uses some other 4 letter word, but whatever). Please fill me in on the secrets of harmonious sisterhood!
