In answer to some questions, there are two easy ways to post pictures on Tumblr. The less-easy way is to click on the photo icon, then click "use a URL instead". Right click on the picture you want to post, and select "copy image location". Then insert the URL into Tumblr. I add the link to the tutorial in the caption section.
The super easiest way is to click here and drag the bookmarklet into your bookmarks. Then, when you find something you want to post, you simply click on that, and a new window pops up that you can either add it is a photo, a link, etc. I just discovered this a few days ago, and it is so easy! You'll still need to right click on the picture to get the image location.

ok, I am so glad you shared that little tid bit. before I was copying the image to my desktop and then uploading it to a post, and I kept thinking to myself" this is dumb, this is basically a second blog..."
