We had a very fun, delicious, and relaxing Thanksgiving. Indeed, I may say it was our best, and least stressful, self-hosted Thanksgiving yet! We had cousins, friends, more friends, and more friends. We ate turkey, potatoes, rolls, collard greens, mac and cheese, pies, cake, a cherpumple, and more pies. Everything was just low key and perfect.
A week before Thanksgiving, our friend Will sent us this link and we just had to give it a go. The night before we started baking and it took hours to cook this monstrosity. We were all very excited to finally put the three layers together.
Isaac and his cousin Mike kicked off Thanksgiving morning with the annual ward Turkey Bowl. Hazel and Kenney were happy to join in the fun and cheer their athletic dads on!
After football and donuts, it was time to finish cooking and get our grub on.

After dinner we all took a brief respite and looked at ads before hitting the desserts.
the finished cherpumple
this pie was my favorite. i wish i was eating it right now. kendra also did a great job with the pecan pie. after all, "it can get soupy". (haha)
The cutting of the cherpumple was a highlight of the evening. Drum roll please....
Sick. The cake batter on one of the layers wasn't fully cooked, so it was a gross mess of batter. All the guys ate it anyway.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Oh gosh, a cherpumple??? I love that you made it, how fun. It kind of makes me want to gag though. :)
ps Love Hazel's turkey shirt and the cake bunting!
The cherpumple looks interesting. You're brave to try it!
