february recap

Oh, this poor neglected blog. Between our amazing trip to Disney World (much more on that to come), planning Hazel's birthday week and party, going binky-less, our church callings, and Isaac's super crazy work life, this blog has been put on the back burner. But a phone call from my parents today, telling me to shape up and get more pictures on here, put a small fire in my belly. So, here was our month of February-

Valentine's Day...
A few days before Valentine's day, Isaac set up a treasure hunt around the house that led Hazel and me to our valentines. What a good guy we have!
Valentine's Day breakfast

Coloring valentines (and cuddling with the orange crayon)

Lots of playing...
fort and slide building with Daddy. I've attempted, but I just can't make them as cool as he can (and Hazel makes sure I know that).
taking her dolls and animals on a 'shoo shoo' ride
she looks so grown up in this picture, it is killing me

And...
My mom painted this awesome picture of Hazel- from this photo- and gave it to us for Christmas. Not the easiest thing to transport on an airplane, and we were thrilled to get it in the mail. My mom is so amazingly talented!!

Hazel was also thrilled to play in the packing peanuts. Why do we spend money on toys?

I don’t set aside enough time to write in my journal regularly- that is something that I really need to work on. I never want to forget exactly how Hazel is at this moment in time, so a while back I set up an email account for things just about Hazel- that way I can send myself emails regularly of all the cute things she does. It is the easiest way for me to make sure I don’t miss anything, and keep everything in the same place. So grandparents, here are a few of the emails from February:

figuring out big and small- says "big", "mas" for small. all the time, everything is big, mas. dad's shoes are "big. mas? big". hazel is "mas. big? mas."

oh, she's funny!

whenever she gets an owie, she will either have one of us kiss it and then exclaims- "all dower!" for 'all better'- or she will kiss her own owie and then exclaim 'all dower!'. she says it in such a happy and loud voice, even through her tears. so cute.

daddy is the best at kissing owies, and if she gets a really bad bonk or something during the day, she just yells for daddy, daddy! my kisses don't quite cut it on the painful ones :)

she loves to eat cereal with milk and gets so excited when you tell her that's what we are going to have for breakfast. 'cerel, nilk! cerel, nilk!' she also loves waffles and pancakes, but is not digging most foods right now- no apples, mac n cheese or other noodles, etc. she looves tortillas though- will try to get a tortilla out of the cupboard any time day or night- and since they are in her reach she can really have them whenever she wants. they are whole wheat after all :)  she also likes frozen peas again- she used to love them when she was little. i fed her applesauce the other day, and she always says 'no!' but this time she actually opened her mouth so i put some in. she instantly started to gag- i thought she was going to throw up! she kept gagging and crying and we had to wipe it off her tongue. poor thing, no apple sauce in her future!

Hazel is starting to sing along with songs, and I am AMAZED at how many of the words she knows. Even to songs that I don't sing very often, she knows the words. It is really incredible, and really, really darling.

She is saying more and more words, and again, I am constantly amazed at how many things she says. She is still mixing up her 's' and putting them at the end of the words- nows (snow), poose (spoon), malls (small), and a non-s one, olc for cold. Dyslexia has never been cuter!

She is obsessed with my makeup, so the other day I made her her own little set, and she adores it and spends forever putting her make up on. She's also pretty good about letting me do her hair, and loves having her toe nails painted- they are bright red right now.

I just love this stage- she is so sweet and fun and funny. I can tell she's starting to get a little bit of those '2s' going on, she had a temper tantrum today because I wanted to say the prayer before she drank her water. Holy moly, wrong choice mom! :) She also is a little stinker and loves to climb up on the table and is always trying to feed Dax. She is always asking to give him a treat. She doesn't ask for treats for herself, just her favorite doggy.

I was cleaning her room yesterday and found all of the cards she got when she was born. She is the MOST loved baby EVER! It is amazing how many people love and adore her. Well, it's not really amazing because how could you not?! But I hope she always knows how loved she is. It is pretty incredible. Hazel Ann, you are incredible!

Farewell February... I hope to blog again before April...

Yay! So glad to see you back to blogging. I wondered what happened and I'm so relieved it was not a tragedy but rather fun things that have kept you busy. I can't believe how old she looks in some pictures and then in others she's still a baby. And your mom is quite the artist, I vaguely remember that from elementary school, but I'm uber impressed.
