trust me, i'm a doctor

July was a full-on crazy month for us. Isaac was working 'round the clock to finish his thesis, my parents came to help me pack the house, we moved, we partied, but BEST of all.... Isaac successfully defended his dissertation!

His defense went great, and I actually understood a few of the words he said (mostly during his acknowledgments, where there wasn't a dry eye in the house). He recieved comments such as "a very impressive body of work" and (one I overheard) "his thesis was incredibly well written".

Hazel doesn't know how to sit still unless she is watching a show, so we broke out Papa's iPad and she watched Looney Tunes during the defense. She let out some loud laughs at random times, which only a cute two year old could get away with.

so proud of her smart daddy
After giving his presentation to friends, family, and colleagues, everyone was asked to leave and he had to 'defend' it to his committee. Then Isaac joined us in anticipation while the committee deliberated....

And we were overjoyed to hear "Congratulations, Doctor!"

they did actually shake Isaac's hand first, I just wasn't quick enough on the draw to capture that moment.

i'm married to the hottest doctor in town

After the defense Isaac's lab threw him a party, complete with BBQ and fancy root beers.
can you tell we hadn't slept for days weeks and were gearing up for moving day in a few short hours?!

Congratulations, Doctor!!!!

Hooray, hooray! This is so exciting! Now when Hazel says "what's up Doc?" she may be talking to her Daddy, and not just her Looney Toons friends.
