our new home

Up next, the house:

We flew out here to search for a new home back in May, and while we knew rent was going to be pricey, we were still shocked at how much we would have to shell out to get the things we wanted. You know, the luxuries of a washer and dryer and a dishwasher- who knew those were so hard to come by? We found a great place (our rent is DOUBLE our mortgage... sickening.) and were excited to move in.

After our trip to Utah, we packed up the rental car and spent the next 10ish hours in the car. Hazel did great (thank heavens for the iPod), Dax did good, I did ok.

I was so excited to get to our new home, and my heart sank when we walked in the door. This place was dirty and smelly and not what I had remembered. Would I actually be able to make this place our home? And to think about how much we are spending to live here, oh, it just made me sick.

Our movers were about a week past when we thought they would arrive, so we lived out of our suitcases on an air mattress. It wasn't all bad since it made the whole house easier to deep clean. Living in someone's germs/dirt/stuff just gives me the heebies. The floors are all tile and wood, so we bought some large carpet remnants and cut them to fit the rooms. I even 'bound' the edges with hot glue. Not only did it work, but it worked really well!

Move-in day went quicker than move-out day, and we (well, mostly I) was able to get almost everything put away in two days.

hey, all of her toys were on the moving truck, and plungers are fun.

ahhh, i don't want to do this again for a while, ok? and never by myself while my husband is at work eating candy from his fully stocked treat room.

oh, the kitchen! it was gross and old. (still is old, less gross though.) i have been so spoiled living in a home where we designed our own brand new kitchen. i hadn't even realized how lucky I was!
you can see hazel's head in the corner of the room- she was snuggled up on blankets watching shows while i worked.
We've lived here for almost two months now, and I really do love our little home. (As long as I don't think about our rent, that is!)

Amen and amen sista!

It was really hard to go from our brand new townhome that we picked everything out for to a house that people fixed as cheaply and begrudgingly as possible.

And smelled funky.

We were lucky though, our house here cost less than our townhouse.

Otherwise I'd be having a tantrum.

*sigh* "Home is where my family is, home is where my family is, home is where my family is...."
