Philly Phireworks

(I don't think this "Ph" thing will ever get old...)

Trying to buy Phireworks in Philadelphia is a joke. Read THIS before continuing.

So, after reading up on the fireworks laws in Philly, we set out to buy some pyrotechnics. Just the safe and sane ones, as we learned in the article, are legal in Pennsylvania.

There are two large fireworks superstores in a 30-mile radius from our house. Isaac called them both before heading out to make sure that they had the Pennsylvania-legal fireworks. We were told that yes, they had fireworks that were legal in PA, but since they also had fireworks that were not legal, you could not even enter the store with a PA driver's license.

Let's recap:

-The store is in PA.
-You cannot enter it if you live in PA.
-NJ or DE license = please enter and buy any firecrackers, bottle rockets, and mortars you like.
-However, it is illegal to traffic them back to your home state

Q: Where can you set off your goods!?
A: Who knows?! Not in PA. Not in NJ or DE. Wyoming, maybe?

It's as if illicit drugs are illegal everywhere, but you could come to PA to buy them anyway. However, we love our own residents too much to allow them to buy them, so we'll only let out-of-towners partake. Weird.

To a girl whose family used to own a fireworks stand, and a guy whose favorite holiday is the 4th of July since that is the only day his wife will let him blow things up, it was pretty sad.

The day did end on a good note, however. We had a great BBQ with our friends and watched our grocery store-bought fireworks while sitting in their carport since it was raining. Thanks, Parkins!!
