Playing Catch Up

I took the GRE yesterday (phew, glad that's done with), did laundry, cleaned the house, went grocery shopping for the first time in over a month, and delegated some of my too heavy workload to colleagues. I can breathe again!!

Just to catch up on everything else that’s happened….

Isaac had a great time in San Francisco. He presented his research at a poster forum, went to U2 in 3-D at the Imax, and bought me a beautiful red coral necklace and bracelet (that I wear almost every day).

Isaac’s brother James came out for work twice last month, and it was so much fun to see him! The first time he came, we ordered in BBQ one night and then he took us to The Cheesecake Factory the second night- it was so yummy, thanks James! He came out again that same month, and funny enough, Isaac’s dad was in town for work that same day! We met up after work and went to Buddakan. It was great to spend time with them, even though it was just a few hours- we miss our families so much!

One year when I was kid, my dad was in charge of getting candy for the easter baskets. He apparently forgot until either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning- because all I had in my basket was some 'fruit by the foot' and kipper snacks! My mom felt so bad that she took me to the store the next day and let me buy all of the chocolate-marshmallow candy I wanted. Now Isaac and I keep the tradition alive by putting 'fruit by the foot' and kipper snacks in our easter baskets (along with some other good treats). We had the Chavez’s over for dinner, but of course I forgot to take any pictures. Another Easter tradition is to have Honey Baked Ham- pretty expensive, but it sure beats cooking!

Isaac spent Easter evening spinning M&Ms....

Isaac's still plugging away at the basement. He has now earned master plumber status and master gas-line-mover status. In the next few weeks he'll be working on earning master electrician status.

I bought a new lens for my camera, but I haven't had any time to use it.

Dax wishes it were spring and that we had a yard for him to play in.

We webcamed with Keri and boys today, and David and Nathan played me the piano songs they have been learning. I'm pretty homesick right now....

And check out my handsome nephew Andrew (and the rest of the adorable family!!)- gosh, I can't wait until August when I can hold that little guy!

And finally, we're selling our stove (my mom-in-law is jumping for joy right now!). It's up on craigslist; I hope someone is looking for a nice ugly-brown-but-still-works-great gas stove. Isaac removed the gas line, so we are currently ovenless. Obviously he is also excited to see it go!

And I think that's all.

Isaac and Sara,
I don't know if you will remember us from high school or not? Isaac probably remembers Jimi maybe not me so much. Anyway, we are good friends with Ryan and Amy and went to dinner last night with them. They were telling us of their cousin who served his mission in Russia and we got really interested in that. Anyway, Amy told me to check out your blog and to my surprise we know you! Small world. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that I think your house renovations are incredible! Good job, both of you!

Congrats of finally getting the GRE out of the way. What a relief! You are so lucky that Isaac is getting certified in everything- it is so fun to see whwat you guys are doing to your cute house! We had a lot of fun fixing up our first home, but the most "electrical" thing we did was change out our light switch/electrical face plates. Too scared to do more:). We have some good home-improvement stories to tell you both when you come out here.
