Vacations Make Me Sick (cough cough)

We had an awesome time with my parents in town, and we were lucky that my Aunt and Uncle came to town for a few days at the same time! In fact, Isaac's brother James was also in town, and other brother Russ and fam were in NYC, and cousin Mike and fam wanted to come see us... it was a busy week! We got to see and spend time with almost everyone.

On Saturday we went to the Italian Festival (thanks to Lisa for telling us about this!) which was a lot of fun. We ate awesome pasta, sandwiches, canolies, and drank coconut milk from a coconut (which looks cool but taste horrible!).

On Sunday I had to work at graduation, in the pouring rain, but things went pretty good and I am so thrilled that it is over!

Monday Isaac had to work so John, Jackie, Mom, Dad, and I went to the Brandywine River Museum and to Longwood Gardens. The weather was great most of the time, the flowers were beautiful, and we had a wonderful time.

Tuesday morning, my mom made us peanut butter and jelly pancakes- yum! This is one of my favorite breakfasts, or lunches or dinners, from when I was a kid and it has been so long since I have had them. Later we went to Valley Forge and drove around in the pouring rain. We then went to Cheesecake Factory, met up with James, and had a great dinner.

We had fun selling John and Jackie on our GPS; they went back to California and bought one right away! I can't say enough good things about our little GPS, we love you.

Wednesday we took off for Boston. We stayed at this super cute bed and breakfast in Plymouth.

Thursday I started feeling sick... but we went to Boston anyway and had an awesome time. What a historical place!

Friday we packed up the car and headed to NYC to see Russ and Tiff and fam. They had three rooms at the Ritz Carlton (WOW!) and were nice enough to offer us a room for the night. What an awesome hotel! We had access to the 14th floor where there was free breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening desserts. We spent Saturday roaming around the city, and had lunch with the fam at Mars 2112. By this time, my fever was high, I was coughing up a lung, and felt like I was going to die. Oh, and I had laryngitis.

I see my parents twice a year. I had laryngitis for half of their visit. We couldn't even talk.

It was so nice to have them here. Sunday my mom stayed home from church to take care of me. Monday we watched a movie, sat around, and I was in a feverish daze the whole time.

Tuesday we spent lounging around some more (I can't imagine how bored my parents must have been) and my sweet mom did our laundry and cleaned the house. They left around three, and I went to the doctor. They did a chest xray as they thought I might have pneumonia. Luckily I don't, but I have some other nasty junk and am on a whole gamut of medications. Egh. And now Isaac's got it too.

Thanks Mom for taking such awesome care of me. Dad, next time you come I will be sure and have newspapers laying around for you to read. And I won't be sick!!! (Although last time I saw my parents, I had the shingles. See, vacations really do make me sick.)

We did have a wonderful time, because we came to see the two of you, and the sightseeing was an add-on! It really is amazing that we did all those things while you were so very, very sick. I feel so guilty--we should have insisted that we go back home and put you to bed before we actually did! You're a real trooper! We love you. Mom

Parents are the best huh. So sorry you were sick. All I have to say is that you better take vitamin c and echinacea every day from now until August so your next vacation isn't spoiled!! It is so great that you are so close to so many cool things out there. We should make our way out there one of these days........
Hope you both feel better!
