a magical party

Not to toot my own horn (ok, maybe a little, toot-toot) but Isaac had one awesome birthday party this year. The theme was "Isaac" (it was his birthday after all) and I decorated with his face everywhere, including on stickers that everyone wore. The food was all of Isaac's favorites- mac and cheese, donuts, pb&j sandwiches, chips, reeces peanut butter cups, cupcakes (white and chocolate mixed, with chocolate frosting), caffeine free pepsi and rootbeer. We also played "pin the towel on Isaac" and gave away prizes.

Isaac and I joked about getting a magician for his party, but after looking into it they were too expensive. However, the night before the party one of Isaac's lab mates gave me a call. She had heard Isaac joking about having a magician, and she actually had a friend that was really good. I was skeptical, but thought, what the heck, it will be funny. He was about 1/2 the cost of the others I was looking into.

Calvin Tan was AMAZING. He specializes in up close magic, so he did a short group show with cards, coins, etc., and then spent the rest of the party doing tricks for smaller groups. We were all dumbfounded- he was so good! Even standing right next to him, we couldn't figure out how he did his tricks. If you are in the PA area and want to have one heck of a party, hire this guy!

At church on Sunday I kept getting comments like: "Best Party EVER!" and "how can I ever top that?" The problem is, how can I ever top that? I better get started right now on planning next year's party... I'm thinking tigers and fire-breathers.

Happy Birthday IEE. I love you a million brazillians.

a deliciously adorable post. and an awesome idea! i think Mike's face all over the food would be a little scary for some people though.

Well, I live in Jax, FL so is it copywrite infringement if I totally steal this concept for my hubby's 29th bday?
VERY CLEVER!

Ahhhhh, what a good wifey you are. You always did throw the best birthday parties though. P.S was I really a flirt? I think it was DeAnne who was the big flirt.

What great ideas you have, Sara! I'm amazed at your energy to pull off such a great birthday party for your husband. It shames me to think of how little I do... but maybe this year I'll copy you some and do better! :) by the way, i love your blog even though I don't comment often, and I think of you and your hope to adopt often...so sorry about what happened.
