happy birthday to me

Well folks, I am 30. That seems so very old. Probably because it is.

I had a great birthday week, as usual. My dear BBFF Jenny was in town for some of birthday week, and she treated me to a waffle breakfast, we went thrift shopping, and ate delicious ice cream. We also went to San Fran and walked around Haight-Ashbury. Woah, what a place that was.

she loved the train, until it went underground and got super loud

On my actual birthday, I got lots of songs and kisses from my favorite little girl.
That night, Isaac arranged for a babysitter (Hazel's 'sister' Emma) and took me out for sushi. When we came home, Emma and Hazel were not at the house but I assumed they were at the park playing. Isaac hadn't come in from the car yet, but he was being so secretive that I didn't want to ruin any surprise he was bringing in from the car (or so I thought) so I sat down and waited. A few minutes later Emma ran in the house and told me they were at the park. I said I would come as soon as Isaac came in from the car. I went to check on him, he wasn't there, so I headed to the park anyway.

And I had a big SURPRISE party waiting for me!

Let's talk about this amazing, cute, and thoughtful husband of mine for a minute. He printed out invitations and handed them out at church (why is that like the cutest thing in the world to me?!).

He spent hours and hours working on these amazing cakes.

my one peek into the kitchen the night before the party. i was banished after this photo.
that's right, he made this all himself. they were lemon cakes with a lemon curd center. whaaat!? they were so good!
He bought my new favorite ice cream, salted caramel, and also my favorite hot fudge (which he left at home in the fridge so I wouldn't have to share with anyone).

He bought me an almost perfect robe (sleeves were too short for my monkey arms, surprise, surprise). And he got us tickets to Alcatraz!

And back to the party... what a fun evening we had. Not only did our new friends come to my party, but they brought me presents! It has been ages since I've gotten so many presents. They were all perfect too- a darling apron in my favorite color, a necklace in my favorite color, a wind chime in my favorite color (which is aqua, fyi), movie tickets and a free night of babysitting, a ton of balloons, flowers, candy. I mean really, I don't understand people who don't like birthdays.

and these candles? how cute are they!
 And we even had entertainment:

Thank you, dear Isaac, for the amazing birthday week. Thirty isn't so bad, I guess.
