i am the lorax, i speak for the trees

Hazel wanted to be the Lorax for Halloween, so being the obliging mother that I am, I created her a Lorax costume. Isaac went as the Once-ler and I was a Truffula Tree. Of course, about a week before Halloween Hazel decided she wanted to be a cheetah, at which point the obliging mother went away and I informed her she did not have a choice in the matter! Luckily she was happy to be the Lorax on the 'real Halloween', and could be a cheetah on 'other Halloweens.'

We started the day with a little pumpkin painting playdate with some friends, followed by a visit to Isaac's work, and then some early trick or treating on a cute little street.

hazel stopped after every house and checked out what candy they gave her.

That night we had some friends over for pizza and headed out for more candy.

Everyone loved Hazel's costume, which made her love it, which made me happy. Mine and Isaac's costumes weren't quite up to par with what I would have like to do, but Isaac imposed a budget on me early on, so I made it work :)  I did have one man tell me that we had the best costumes of the night- and on that busy street he had probably seen more than a thousand costumes, so that's saying something!

still going strong, even in the rain!
Hazel sure makes holidays amazingly fun!

I love her costume - and jealous she does not need a snowsuit under hers like we did when we were little! I have fond memories of trick or treating with you, my friend!
