january

January brought us more home preschool, the start of ballet class, discovering a love of Go Fish and Old Maid, lots of pretend, tons of dress up, making messes, and some mommy-daughter dates while daddy was out of town. Oh, and colds followed by stomach flu followed by colds followed by more colds. Add in dog sickness and we've had our fair share for the entire year, thank you.

We kicked Isaac's birthday week off with a trip to Bass Pro Shop. He and Hazel were in heaven.  For the entire month she kept saying, "For your birthday I am going to get you a shiny handgun."

Isaac was heading out of town on the afternoon of his birthday, so he took the morning off of work and we went out for breakfast. It was then that my stomach flu kicked in- Isaac had already had his turn- so it was a short lived birthday celebration.

Hazel also got a new huge bed in January. She loves it, and has stopped coming into our bed in the wee hours of the morning to sleep with us (bitter-sweet). It is big enough to double as a guest bed... so come on guests, make yourselves at home!

since I wasn't totally ready to give up her crib/toddler bed, Isaac got out the drill and turned it into a headboard. It is perfect! (And I have since rearranged the hoops on the wall, there used to be a dress hanging there that wouldn't work with the headboard. Why do I feel the need to explain that?)

Love all of the posts! And I love Hazel! Seriously, could she be more darling?!
Also, I have to share this... When painting with shaving cream, mix a little glue in and it makes puffy paint! So fun. (Puffs up after it dries.)

Isaac was brilliant with the headboard - I had no idea it was re-purposed! And those pigtail braids? Adorable. I love Hazel's outfits and her changes throughout the day, especially her love for costumes. It's great how Hazel hides her cards! And I think her pancakes look better than mine!
